I am a young journalist, a writer, someone who loves taking pictures and goes to the streets from time to time to stand up for his beliefs. Text, photos, and my heart are the tools I use. Sometimes you can see me holding a recording device though I mostly use my notebook computer and smartphone, rarely pencil or paper. Simply being part of the e-generation.
I did several internship, among others at the German newspaper taz.die tageszeitung and a local radio station called Nordwestradio/Radio Bremen. You can find several of my articles and audio contributions published online: check out taz.die tageszeitung, Nordwestradio/Radio Bremen, neues deutschland, LoNam | Das Afrikamagazin, eufrika.org, and udadisi. I studied Area Studies Asia/Africa at the Humbold-Universtität zu Berlin and the University of Nairobi as a bachelor´s program. Additionally I absolved Kiswahili language classes at the State University of Zanzibar. Currently I am doing a master programe in African Studies at the Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin. In it I focus on Eastern Africa and African/Swahili literatures.
I am a critical person, a white cis-male, someone who tries to think free and to remain a freethinker. A curly haired spectacle wearer who believes in humanity, who is fascinated by the urban, and loves nature. One love we need, pamoja we stay.
WHAT I DO
I want to depict alternative perspectives, point out new paths, present reality in the plural.
I try to leave time’s cage while capturing the moment through photography.
Radio, podcasts as well as interviews. The spoken word is really powerful. I use its power.
I study African Studies with a focus on East Africa as my master program at the Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin.
